Sunset Series 1-3
2010 Regional Competition:
One First-place award (image 1-3)
The three photo set 'Sunset Series I' were taken at Big Meadows, in Shenandoah National Park.
A unique place, it is home to many rare plant species.
Constant winds allow for strange, contorted, and stunted growth of the few trees that grow in the open.
The Big Meadows climate allows for several northern climate trees to grow this far south. This is a Gray Birch.
A shallow depth-of-field allows each succeeding layer of small branches and catkins to slowly merge into the sunset.
